On one of my many weekend hikes as a boy in the very early 90’s – apart of the 1st Laurieton Scouts – we were on a two-day hike from Herons Creek to Swans Crossing. After zig-zagging and crossing Upsalls Creek many times to navigate to our waypoint, we ventured to higher ground to find Upsalls Creek Road.
Stumbling through the thick overgrowth, we spotted what looked like the resemblance of old bridges, tressels, and structures.
Everything was overgrown and you could tell rot had well and truly set in. Having broken ahead of the rest of the scout pack – we took some time to explore the area until the rest of the pack caught up.
Intrigued, we asked out Scoutmaster “skip” what this was all about and was surprised to find out he knew all the local history of this tramline.
The tramway tramline run all the way from the Kendall village – all the way to Tipperary roughly following the lay of Upsalls Creek.
