Wow – what an epic drive and adventure to reach this stunning location. Easily of the most remote places on the east coast of New South Wales. Located in the Carrai National Park, Mary’s View looks over the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park with views all the way to the New England Tablelands to the west.
While up at Mary’s View we spotted people and 4×4 right down in the valley below. We later discovered that they were camping at Georges Junction on the Macleay River.
Getting there is a day trip in itself by 4×4 with recommended camping along the way at the basic huts at Daisy Plains. The area was one of the last discovered places on the East Coast of Australia with the timber getters chasing the highly prized red cedar at Daisy Plains and saw milling at Kookaburra in the 1950’s.
